FAQs (courtesy of dermasolve.com):

What is psoriasis?
It is a skin condition where the skin cells reproduce faster than normal and accumulate on the surface. It is a chronic condition that is linked to the body’s immune system and is one of the oldest recorded skin conditions. It should be noted that psoriasis is not contagious and cannot be ‘caught’ by coming in contact with someone who has it.

What causes psoriasis?
While the exact cause of psoriasis has not been determined, it is believed to be genetic and triggered by a malfunction of the immune system. Skin cells’ normal cycle run about 28 – 30 days during which the cells mature and fall off. In cases of psoriasis skin cell maturation is escalated to as little as three or four days and instead of shedding off, the skin cells ‘pile up’ of on the surface and form lesions.

What are the symptoms of psoriasis?
The most common symptoms of psoriasis are thick, red patches of skin (plaques) and dry, silvery scales. Most often these appear on the scalp, face, elbows, knees, palms and soles of the feet. In addition changes in toenails and/or fingernails may take place, including: discoloration, pitting, shape changes or the loss of the entire nail.

Are there different types of psoriasis?
There are five types of psoriasis: Plaque, Guttate, Pustular, Inverse and Erythrodermic.

How is psoriasis diagnosed?
Due to the variations of the condition, diagnosing psoriasis is not always cut and dry. Your physician or dermatologist will examine the skin as well as toenails and fingernails and may also enquire about your family’s medical history.

Is there a cure for psoriasis?
No, at this time there is no cure for psoriasis.

Do both men & women get psoriasis?
Psoriasis occurs almost equally between men and women as well as in all racial groups, although the rates vary. Approximately 125 million people worldwide are affected. While it can begin at any age, it typically appears between the ages of 15 and 35 with 75% before age 40. After that another peak onset is between 50 and 60. The earlier the onset occurs, the greater the chance that it will be widespread and recurrent.

What triggers psoriasis?
Psoriasis triggers can include: emotional stress, injury to the skin, certain drugs and infections.

Is psoriasis worse at different times of the year?
Changes in the seasons can play a role in your psoriasis flare-ups. During the summer additional exposure to sunlight can help improve your condition while the cold, dry air of winter can aggravate it.

Can I use Dermsolve® on my face?
Yes, Dermasolve® can be used on the face – taking care to avoid contact with the eyes. Do not use on the lips or around the mouth as the product should not be swallowed.

Where else can I use Dermsolve®?
Dermasolve® can be used anywhere on the body including the face or scalp.

Can children use Dermasolve®?
Dermasolve® is specially formulated to be gentle and non-irritating to sensitive skin and can be used on children over 6 years of age. Be sure to supervise children when using the product.

"For years I have suffered from severe psoriasis on my elbows and knees. I have tried everything from over-the-counter products to prescriptive drugs. I tried a million different products because of my psoriasis, nothing ever worked and I've spent a fortune. I searched for a new treatment for psoriasis and found DermaSOLVE® I saw improvement that very same day. I really do love it, it's the only thing I put on my face. I've been using it happily now for 3 years and wouldn't be without it."
-Carole Most, CA

I am a vocational education Cosmetology teacher. For years I have suffered with the constant embarrassment of psoriasis. I went to a dermatologist who put me on antibiotics. I had little to no success with any product until I found DermaSOLVE®. DermaSOLVE® wonderfully conditioned my skin, the itching stopped immediately and in a few short days the red bumps started to disappear. I would apply my normal cosmetics I used everyday over DermaSOLVE®."
